Recently we were going through our hats for cold weather. I decided it was time to get rid of an old fleece hat that I've had for many years. I was about to trash it, when all of a sudden a black sheep flashed into my head. I had to try it. My daughter has already taken it for a walk and given it dance lessons.
love it! especially the cute little tail. how did you get the legs to support the body? what did the pattern look like before you sewed it? you could call it a "chapeau sheep" for a lovely bit of alliteration. :)
ReplyDeleteHa, yes we should name the sheep "Chapeau". Nice.
ReplyDeleteAs for the pattern, I just cut out two profiles of the sheep (including legs) and then made a kind of X piece that went underneath. I would have taken pictures but I really didn't think I would get it to work. I'll have to make another one sometime.
So cute! And I love the re-purposing of old stuff that's going to be binned.
ReplyDeleteYou in all of your artful craftiness inspired me this year to craft up my own Hallowe'en costumes for my boys - I re-purposed and old wool sweater (full of holes) headed for the bin into a dog costume.
Once again, thanks for the inspiration.
wow, you are one cool dad.
ReplyDeletethe sheep is awesome!
Just found you today and can't wait to be inspired some more!

ReplyDeletemany thanks.
My children are glad about it.
So nice!
ReplyDeleteOMG, you are a chest full of ideas, simply amazing.
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog from Santiago, Chile. I can't wait to try all your activities as soon as my baby grows up. Idea: 2011 colouring calendar for kids.
ReplyDeleteCheers and good luck!
I love this sheep! I love the photos of your daughter too. What a great way to recycle and be creative. Too often we throw things away out of laziness or boredom. I have started cutting up old jeans and making patches for new jeans with creative designs.
ReplyDeleteFantastic!!What fun!
ReplyDeleteThanks everybody! Yeah, it's very satisfying to make something out of things that would otherwise be tossed away! Also, if you mess up, it's not a big deal.
ReplyDeletewhat a lovely sheepy I mean lovely sweety ;-) x
ReplyDeleteJoel, you are one creative guy and such an inspiration to me in repurposing used items! Thanks so much for your blog and your amazing ideas.
ReplyDeleteYou inspired me to make a hen with a old wool glove and two buttons. It looks a bit scary but my daughter (2) was happy to help me with the filling.
ReplyDeleteLovely Joel!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I see my new mascot right there in one black sheep! I have some black felted wool... hmmm.
ReplyDeleteM...
